Toyota Joins Supercars In 2026

Toyota Australia has just dropped a bombshell in the Supercar world announcing they will partner up with Walkinshaw Andretti and join the Repco Supercars Championship in 2026 for a committed period of at least 5 years.

Elite Supercar drivers Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood will be behind the wheel of the partnership with Walkinshaw Supras and an additional minimum of 2 more Gen3 GR Supras will enter with Gazoo Racing.

The GR Supras will use Toyota's 2UR-GSE all-aluminium, quad-cam V8 as it's baseline engine. This has featured in a range of performance production cars alongside the Dakar winning Hilux (2019).

Toyota has announced it's already started the initial design work with the team using the newest CAD & VR technology to create a scale clay model. Further details of the racecar will be announced once more developments are made.

With Goleby's Parts history with the GR range, we think Toyota are heading in a great direction to bring back more race focused cars and engines. The 1JZ and 2JZ era will still be one of if not the best generation for Toyota's vehicles but the newer technology is certainly causing a shakeup and an interest into the future.

What do you think about the announcement?
