Turbosmart, founded in 1997, specialises in top-notch boost accessories like Fuel Pressure Regulators, Wastegates, and now Turbochargers; continuously refining their offerings with expertise.
Boost control is crucial for automotive enthusiasts, racers, and tuners. Whether you're a pro or an enthusiast, mastering boost control is key to unlocking your vehicle's full potential.
In this blog, we'll discuss the importance of boost control for car performance and how Turbosmart's products serve different automotive sectors, from racing teams to DIY enthusiasts. We'll highlight the features and benefits of our turbochargers and accessories with real-world performance examples.
Who is Turbosmart?
Turbosmart, a renowned Australian brand, has been igniting enthusiasm since 1997, specialising in crafting top-notch boost accessories likeFuel Pressure Regulators, Wastegates & now Turbos! Each accessory plays a crucial role in improving an engine's overall efficiency and power output. Let's delve into the essential elements that define Turbosmart.
Nic Cooper, the CEO and founder, had started the business in his parent’s garage. Driven by an immense passion for racing, high-performance car engines, and engineering, he crafted his first two products: a blow-off valve and a boost controller.
What is a Turbo?
A turbocharger is often referred to as a "turbo". It's a device that increases the internal combustion of an engine's efficiency and power output by forcing extra air into the combustion chamber. The additional air allows more fuel to be burned, resulting in greater power generation.
Turbos consist of two main components: a turbine and a compressor. The turbine is driven by exhaust gases expelled from the engine, while the compressor pressurises the incoming air before it enters the engine. This process is known as forced induction and is commonly used in performance vehicles to enhance engine performance.
Available in Oil Cooled and Water Cooled, brands like Turbosmart, have based their product lineup around V-Band fitment and include various T3 and T4 solutions. There are reverse rotation units for those after that mirror image look for your twin turbo setup, or if you need to take advantage of a unique single install. Turbosmart also provides a range of internally wastegated turbos (IWG) to help with all sorts of fitment applications.
How good are Turbosmart Turbochargers?
Smaller, Lighter & Faster
The designers of Turbosmart turbochargers have deliberately crafted them to maintain a tight package without compromising performance.
With advanced and modernised materials, the bearing system contributes to a performance turbocharger significantly lighter than the competition.
The Turbosmart Range of turbochargers prioritises focus and aerodynamic balance to achieve faster acceleration. This is achieved by maximising flow at low shaft speeds and optimising other areas of the turbocharger to maintain high-speed flow.
Advantages to Utilising Turbosmart Turbos
Turbosmart turbochargers offer a significant boost in horsepower and torque, providing an instant performance upgrade. The efficiency in air compression and delivery translates to a more responsive engine, delivering power precisely when needed. This responsiveness is particularly advantageous in racing and high-performance driving scenarios.
The rear housings are investment casted which helps keep the overall weight of the turbo down and incorporates an Inconel rear wheel with a forged billet compressor wheel which then leads to very efficient aerodynamics. With the combination of these specs, the Turbosmart turbos provide a larger flow at lower turbocharger RPM whilst retaining a lower rotating mass.
Turbosmart Turbo Testing
Here are some examples of Turbosmart Turbo's being used in real world applications.

Boost control is a critical aspect of a turbocharger's performance. Turbosmart excels in this area by providing efficient solutions that enhance boost control and management with their wide range of wastegates that have countless hours of research and development, testing, and fine-tuning.
How Do They Help Boost?
Boost Control Solutions, Wastegates, and Their Roles
Wastegates are integral components of a turbocharger system, and Turbosmart offers state-of-the-art solutions in this regard. Wastegates play a crucial role in regulating boost pressure, preventing over-boosting, and safeguarding the engine from potential damage. Turbosmart's wastegates are designed with precision and durability in mind, ensuring reliable performance under varying conditions.
